Event Sponsorships :: 3 Months Until St. Joe’s Toronto West Halloween Fest!

If you’re familiar with event planning, then you know most events are months in the making. That’s why we’ve already started planning a Halloween event all the way back in spring! The sixth annual Toronto West Halloween Fest is on Sunday, October 29, 2017. To prepare, our team is organizing permits, decor, entertainment, event sponsorships, and much more.

Because this is our 6th year planning the event with St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation, we know what it takes to make this event successful. Never been to the Toronto West Halloween Fest? Check out the video below to see the highlights from last year.

As you can see, this is one of Toronto’s best Halloween events for the entire family. The street festival and costume parade takes over Bloor West Village. Over 10,000 people are expected to join us for our free family festival. This year’s event sponsorships and proceeds will go towards a new Kids’ Emergency at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

Why St. Joseph’s Health Centre?

St. Joseph’s promise is to make this community one of the healthiest in Canada. This means looking at the needs of our neighbours, finding ways to make their care even better, and making it happen. To do this, they’ve launched Promise, the $70 million Campaign for St. Joseph’s Health Centre that will build a better St. Joe’s for our community. Event sponsorships are a big component to this campaign.

Event Sponsorships

Did you know more than 500,000 people live in Toronto’s west-end community? That’s equivalent to the population of Newfoundland and Labrador. 80% of our neighbours will get all the care they ever need locally – for our west-end neighbours, that means St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

St. Joseph’s is a leader in caring for kids in our west-end community. Last year, parents brought their kids to St. Joe’s more than 56,000 times and 3,250 babies were born. More people come to our Emergency than anywhere else in the city. Last year, St. Joseph’s had more than 100,000 visits in Emergency – 19,000 alone in our Paediatric Emergency.

Event Sponsorships – Let’s Talk Numbers

Our event sponsorships and onsite vending opportunities allow flexibility, visibility and a solid platform to help you stand out and make an impact. This festival allows you to engage with thousands of potential consumers while making a difference in your community. As a community partner, you will have access to the full benefits of participating in the festival. Last year, Toronto West Halloween Fest received 535,000 social media impressions (growth of 41% from previous year). In addition, the festival obtained 21,000,000+ media impressions and 52 stories in the media.

Event Sponsorships

Connect with your community the way you want to. As a community partner, you will receive a 10×10 footprint at our event to engage with event guests. In addition, sponsors have the opportunity to sell onsite, distribute samples and engage with event attendees brand awareness. You’ll have the opportunity to customize the activation based on your goals. Looking to make an announcement or performance on stage? Come on up!

As a sponsor, you’ll become part of our network and receive invitations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation events. This allows our sponsors to stay connected and become an active member of our caring community.

Already looking forward to October? Contact Tigris today at 1-844-4TIGRIS or send us an e-mail to learn more about event sponsorship opportunities for Toronto West Halloween Fest.

Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening

Event Planning for the Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening

Who wants to plan the Berczy Park Grand Re-opening? Sign us up!

We couldn’t be more proud of the Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening event if we tried! Tigris had the tremendous privilege to plan the Berczy Park grand re-opening and was thrilled to win this business through a formal RFP process. This park is Toronto’s beloved communal space in the heart of St. Lawrence Market, also known as the gateway to Old Toronto. Our team was tasked with creating a unique event experience to bring the community together. This includes children, families, seniors and of course, pet lovers, since the whimsical dog fountain is the focal point of the park.

Claude Cormier designs Berczy Park with a view to give people a beautiful space to be together. The grand re-opening was 3 months in the making and working with the City of Toronto was an amazing experience.

Event Planning for the Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening with City of Toronto

Tigris teamed up with City of Toronto in April for the planning and execution of 2017 Spring & Summer Parks & Trails Opening Events. The first event keynote event being the grand re-opening of the much awaited Berczy Park. Tigris tasked with creating the event experience for the event. Some of our project management deliverables included:

  • Creating the master work back schedule, day-of-run sheets, site plans,
  • Liaising with City of Toronto to coordinate safety/traffic/waste plans for the event,
  • Booking and managing all vendors and supplies such as AV, P.R., entertainment, souvenir giveaways, décor, food and beverages,
  • Working with BIA to plan schedules for day-of volunteers,
  • Participating in communications and meetings with the community partners,
  • Liaising with St. Lawrence Market and local businesses to participate in a mini-market on Scott St.
  • Day-of, onsite coordination/execution including overseeing set up, event execution
  • Post-event reporting on logistics including photos/recommendations

You’ve heard us say this before – no task is too big or too small for Team Tigris. Whether it’s scheduling a team of brand ambassadors or turnkey event planning, we put effort and detail into all of our projects. The project requirements for Berczy Park are similar to our efforts on St. Joseph’s Toronto West Halloween Fest we have planned since 2012.

Pageantry: Creating the Look & Feel of the Event

Berczy Park Grand Re-OpeningTo add to the look/feel of the event, Tigris was tasked with sourcing themed décor including bunting/paper lanterns. In addition, Tigris sourced a PR agency to promote the event and manage the media. ON Q Communications was successful in landing several interviews the day of the event and the weeks leading up to it. City of Toronto coordinated speakers participating in the event including major John Tory and the late Deputy Mayor, Pam McConnell. The formalities concluded with a ribbon cutting in front of the fountain. Sadly, this was Deputy Mayor, Pam McConnell’s last public appearance. She passed away on Thurs., Jul. 6 – just 8 days after the event.

Entertainment

AV, DJ and a Jazz Trio was provided by Bongo & B. create a fun atmosphere at the event. A caricature artist was sourced who had the ability to produce 15-20 drawings per hour! Guests were encouraged to have their portraits taken with their family or dogs. Even the mayor got his drawing done! Our event also included face painting, historical characters for photo opportunities and to talk about the history of the area. Their appearance was complimented by take-aways that were put into the branded bags featuring three “Then and Now” postcards.

You may have heard about the sheep that caused quite the stir. Les Moutons, a travelling performance group was in Toronto during the event and performed a wonderfully absurd routine as a flock of sheep. None of the guests could stop watching!

Because the event was family focused, Dulce Gomes from the St. Lawrence Library coordinated a puppet show and a story time for children attending the event. There was free popcorn available to the public and a refreshing lemonade stand.

Sponsors

Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening

Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors for this event! Onsite, Friends of Berczy Park  was able to promote their “Adopt-a-Tree” within Berczy Park, as well as discuss upcoming initiatives and programs. In addition, this sponsor was given branded lime green tote bags to hand out to patrons. These bags included “Then & Now” postcards showcasing the history’s of Berczy Park, the Gooderham Building, and St. Lawrence Market.

Tim Horton’s was happy to take part in the event. They had a steady flow of patrons who were given a choice of free coffee or fruit smoothies. Needless to say, they were a huge hit during the hot, sunny day. Everyone could be spotted with a Tim Horton’s cup in hand. Tigris also created a lemonade stand for alternative refreshments, compliments of City of Toronto.

On Scott Street, a market was available to the public including Northern Biscuit, Wynn Fitness, Power Up Bar, Scheffler’s Deli, Urban Fresh, Manotas Organic and Crude Café.  Many of these sponsors had free samples and information for the public.

Testimonial for the Successful Berczy Park Grand Re-Opening

Our client from the City of Toronto was happy to pass along this testimonial;

“Many thanks for the tremendous job on the Berczy event yesterday, it was all around fantastic, everything was so well organized, the Park, program,  set up, media and community turnout so great, honestly the best Park Opening I’ve been to. Comments from the Mayor and Councillors, as well as many community members were so positive”. – Janie Romoff, General Manager Parks, Forestry and Recreation

This event was a lot of fun to plan and we are thankful for the opportunity to create something so amazing for the city. What’s next for Tigris? We’ll be working with the City of Toronto to plan the grand re-opening of the newly renovated Lower Don Trail in September.

Many of our clients are unaware that Tigris is more than just a staffing agency. In 2013, we legally dropped ‘personnel’ from our name and have officially re-branded to Tigris Events Inc. When anyone thinks about events, we want them to think about Tigris! Our core competencies span creating, planning AND staffing events. Our diverse portfolio includes non-profit events Toronto and nationwide across Canada. We also plan experiential marketing campaigns and promotional activations for clients big and small.

Fundraising Event for Camp Trillium :: Camp Out for Cancer

Wouldn’t it be fun to show up somewhere cool with a sleeping bag, tons of snacks and camp out with your family, friends or co-workers? In addition, you’d be supporting a great cause. Think of an adult sleepover! We are so excited to be participating in CampOut for Cancer. It’s a new fundraising event that will challenge our team to be creative in dreaming up how to camp out (or more realistically, camp in) on a cool October night this fall in support of Camp Trillium.

Camp Trillium is truly a camp like no other. It’s the largest of its kind in North America, sending 3,100 campers each year to year-round camping and recreational experiences. The best part? It’s at no cost to the families. It’s privately funded, and a volunteer-based charity. And it’s unique model of bringing entire families who live with cancer together at camp that has since been adopted by many other camps across North America.

fundraising event

The startling fact is, each year nearly 500 children in Ontario are diagnosed with cancer. So by donating to our Camp Out for Cancer fundraising campaign, you will be helping to send more kids who have been diagnosed with cancer to a place where they can spend time having fun with their brothers and sisters, make new friends, and forget about cancer for a while.

Why Camp Trillium and this Fundraising Event?

Serena Holmes, Tigris President and CEO, sits on the board of Camp Trillium. “I want to be part of something more meaningful and altruistic. I have amassed a lot of experience in events, marketing, management and business – and thought I would best be able to help by lending my expertise and network to an organization in need”, says Serena. She has fulfilled 2 years of a 3 year term on the board. The majority of the impact she’ll be able to make will be by sitting on a subcommittee focused on fundraising. She is also the Chair of Camp Out for Cancer! We’re excited to be extending the invitation for this fundraising event to our team.

Here’s How to Participate in the CampOut for Cancer Fundraising Event

Camp Out for Cancer is for everyone, and we’re inviting our entire Canadian network to participate.  Just click here to join. Registration only costs $25. We are looking to raise $200,000 in year one and need your help! You can camp out or camp in with your family, friends or co-workers on Oct. 14. If you’re not interested in camping, you can simply donate as well.

Not sure how to start fundraising? Camp Trillium shares several tips for fundraising which including sharing a personal story and sharing the opportunity online with your network.

Choosing a Campsite – Let’s Get Creative!

Unfortunately, we realize we can’t have our entire Tigris team fly to Toronto to camp out with our head office on October 14. That’s why, depending on the number of registrants, we will coordinate a location in each city for our team to Camp Out together. We have a roster of 2,000 events staff nationwide across Canada. Can you imagine what an impact we can have as a team?

Not available to camp out? We would love your support. We have raised $625 of our $5,000 goal already. To donate to our team, click here

Tigris Turns 13! Celebrating a Canadian Experiential Marketing Agency

The number 13 comes with negative connotations; take Friday the 13th for example. However, there’s nothing unlucky about this Canadian Experiential Marketing Agency’s 13th anniversary; we have so much to celebrate! As of March 31st, we’ve staffed over 140,000 hours for close to 600 clients. This July, we are taking possession of a new office space that will allow us to double in size. In addition, after ten months of development, Tigris will be launching our new staffing software to streamline our current system.

As you know, nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. To learn more about our company history, read this personal message from Serena Holmes, Tigris President & CEO. You’ll discover how her journey began, and why our team is so grateful to work alongside such a powerful female entrepreneur.

Highlights from our 13 Years as a Canadian Experiential Marketing Agency

In our boardroom, we have a highlight photo from each year hanging on the wall. Along with showcasing the various hairstyles over the years (haha), this wall motivates us to keep aiming higher. It also reminds us of our achievements as a team and the types of events we see ourselves executing in the next 13 years.

We’d like to share this motivational wall with you, giving our clients and brand ambassadors the recognition they deserve. This Canadian Experiential Marketing Agency is built on teamwork, trust, and many talented individuals.

2004 Apple Lounge

In 2004, our team was quite small. One of our main events was providing management and cocktail servers for the Apple Lounge and steakhouse grand opening. Upon arrival, guests were given an “Apple Invitation” and a complimentary drink voucher. There was over 100 people that attended this night!

2005 KRG Children’s Charities

Event planning has always been part of our roots. For KRG Children’s Charities, we were responsible for planning an entire gala from start to finish. This includes sourcing the catering, venue, personnel, volunteers and entertainment. In addition, Tigris managed sales, games and a silent auction. Invitations were designed and we sourced promotional giveaways and guest entertainers.

Candian Experiential Marketing Agency

2006  Krista Slack and Associates

You know we love big and splashy outdoor promotions! In 2006, we teamed up with KS&A to provide talented, outgoing staff to promote the TV show Deadwood. Back then, we called our staff ‘Tigris TSS’ – temporary sales staff. This promotion took place over 4 days before the premiere on Labour Day. Equipped with Western accents, our team engaged with pedestrians and asked them themed questions such as, “Where’s the nearest saloon? That trail dust has me damn thirsty!”

2008 Peroni Sampling

Tigris teamed up with Speed Promotions to book a team of “Italian looking” exotic promotional models for the launch of Peroni Beer in Canada. With 34 executions in Toronto and 19 in Vancouver, the promotional models were busy at bars and restaurants in each city. While onsite, the promotional models sampled the product and communicated important key messaging to distinguish the high-end brew from others on the market.

2009 Rogers OP Sports Week

We love this happy bunch! Above, you can see 6 brand ambassadors and 3 event managers. This team worked with Rogers and Fan Fair to execute an engaging two-week experiential activation at Ontario Place. They managed a series of free games for children all tied into the top local sports teams. Over two weeks, our team gave out over 10,000 prizes and flyers!

2010 Summers at Blur Motorola Promotion

Tigris teamed up with Hill & Knowlton Strategies for a summer street promotion called MOTOBLUR. Consumers were asked to ‘like’ the Motorola Canada Facebook Fan page for their chance to win amazing prizes.

Tigris was proud to represent Motorola on the streets of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to promote the online initiative.  The teams of brand ambassadors rode around on dickie dee’s to hand out 30,000 flyers and popsicles. The goal was to cool people down on a hot day and heat them up with excitement about the amazing contest during the blitz of each city. Needless to say, the public absolutely ate up the program – and our popsicles! They loved the concept of the program, eager to sign up online.

2011 Sun Rype Promotion

This was the 5th consecutive year our bubbly promotional model sampled Sun-Rype’s new juices and fun bites at the Grocery Showcase West Tradeshow. Our temporary trade show staff are food-safe certified and help push sales through key messaging at each event. Working with this delicious brand was always a treat!

Canadian Experiential

2012 Appleton Promotion

Tigris began working with Peter Mielzynski Agencies in May/12 to provide promotional models to execute their sampling events for Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum. You may recognize the woman in the photo above – that’s Evangelia, who worked in the Tigris head office for 5 years!

In addition to providing a team of stunningly beautiful, knowledgeable promotional models to serve Appleton mixed cocktails at restaurants throughout the GTA, we also managed supplies, set up and tear down. Each promotional model was responsible for discussing the brand while offering samples to patrons at the bar in order to promote sales.

Canadian Experiential Marketing Agency

2013 Tide Test with Zoom Media

Tigris teamed up with the biggest ad agency in the business to plan and execute a unique experiential activation to promote the new detergent, Tide Sport + Febreze. Our Tigris “Tide” brand ambassadors were stationed at 24 gyms in Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver Jan. 28 & 30 to collect gym members laundry.

We actually did their laundry Feb. 2-3 and returned the items in Tide-branded laundry bags, along with a free bottle of detergent, on Feb. 4. In addition to staffing brand ambassadors, Tigris also coordinated the laundromats and uniforms for the program. In total over 800 people participated in the program!

2014 CGC Mud Tour

Tigris’ energetic events staff worked tirelessly for CGC’s national promo tour, appropriately called#MudTour2014! Our brand ambassadors literally made their way, coast to coast, across Canada from May 5 through to Sept. 1.

Our events staff in Western Canada travelled from Victoria through to Winnipeg, our Central gal roamed Ontario and our Eastern events staff spanned Kingston to St. John’s Newfoundland. While on tour, the events staff drove branded trucks and partnered up with local sales reps to network at construction sites, gathering important data on CGC products and handing out swag. 2015 NBA All-Star Tour with FILO Productions

Tigris teamed up with FILO Productions to provide teams of athletic brand ambassadors for community-based initiatives in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Regina, Saskatchewan. For each event, Tigris supplied over 15 athletic brand ambassadors per city who were skilled in basketball and had experience working with children. 2016 Uncle Ben’s Roaming Hunger

What better way to celebrate a new, delicious product than with a Food Truck Challenge? That’s why Uncle Ben’s decided to execute a Rice and Grains Food Truck Challenge in 3 major markets across Canada; to showcase the convenient, versatile and delicious new dish amongst these large communities. The event was executed in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto with the help of our dynamic Tigris brand ambassadors.

The purpose of the promotion was to promote Uncle Ben’s new product: Rice and Grains. Three local food trucks from each city competed to see who could create the most delicious recipe using the new product, which contains wholegrain brown rice and quinoa. Tigris assisted Roaming Hunger and FleishmanHillard for the planning and execution of these events.

2017 Brita & ME to We with 6 Degrees

…The best part about working with Tigris are the great relationships you build, with not only your team but the customers as well. I absolutely love meeting new people and making someone’s day! Whether it be giving out free samples or just informing people about great events and initiatives, the take back is so rewarding. My favourite Tigris experience was probably when I worked with Tiger Towel at Woodbine Park. The great team I worked with made the day fun, entertaining and eventful. We all had each other’s backs and were quick to help out where needed. Working with the public was amazing as well. They were so excited to play the game and try to win the tiger stuffed animal. I truly look forward to many more events like this in the future. – Stephanie C

Positive Experiences with Tigris’ Promotional Models

Working with Tigris has been amazing! They have always been so inclusive. I feel like they genuinely care about my well-being when I work with them. I met one of my closest friends working with Tigris at the Auto Show last year, and I also scored the best pair of black leggings I own. A win-win situation, very common when I’m with Tigris! I even scored a two month full-time work opportunity with them this past fall. I learned so much! – Alyssa O

I would have to say my favourite Tigris experience was the Tigris group interview. This was the first time I got to meet the Tigris team in person and it was such a positive experience, I still remember being asked what the name of my autobiography would be and having a great laugh about it afterwards! I knew that I wanted to work with Tigris when I saw how dedicated the team was and how passionate they were about what they did! – Angela Z

Contest Marketing for Under Armour #BoostYourHealth

Feature Image courtesy of: Hudsons’s Bay Company

Hudson’s Bay Company announced that January is the month to #BoostYourHealth. In addition to sharing tips online, an in-store event at Hudson Bay Queen Street was executed to help shoppers accomplish their wellness goals. Several vendors used interactive contest marketing to participate and acknowledge their support for the #BoostYourHealth movement.

Because 2017 wellness goals and resolutions start now. – The Point, HBC

Athletic Events Staff

January 14th was a full day of in-store events celebrating different ways to boost your health. Tigris joined forces with Under Armour for a contest marketing campaign, Spin to Win. Shoppers can jump on an exercise bike to win a complete Under Armour look (that’s including the shoes!). The number of entries each participant receives is related to how many calories they can burn on their bikes. For example, if you were to burn 10 calories in 30 seconds, you can enter the contest 10 times. As you can imagine, it got a bit competitive!

Because shoppers came in non-athletic attire the latest Under Armour shoes were available for participants to try on. The right shoes can increase your athletic performance because it’s impossible to spin in heels! After participating, each contestant was given a 20%-off coupon for in-store purchases, valid that day only. Many people loved the shoes so much, they bought them on the spot!

4 Reasons Why You Should Incorporate Contest Marketing Into Your Next Event

contest marketing

Increase your database & learn valuable information about your consumer

In order for shoppers to participate in the contest, they must enter through an online waiver via iPad. This waiver collects various data about each participant including gender, phone number and e-mail. With permission, each e-mail is entered into the Under Armour e-newsletter database. Consumers are now eligible to receive e-mails about upcoming sales and new products. Consumers are less hesitant to give their information when they receive something in return.

Participants become brand ambassadors

Throughout the day, close to 200 shoppers participated in the Spin to Win contest. Each participant, eager to share their experience online, took multiple photos and videos of the activation. In addition, our team snapped action shots as the calories burned away. Because this is such a fun and unique opportunity, everyone was eager to share their experience on social media. As a result, participants became brand ambassadors for, Under Armour. They spread awareness by posting their photos with their experience, along with tagging Under Armour and using #BootYourHealth. As a result, these images were shared with hundreds of their friends and followers. It’s like a domino effect!

Athletic Events Staff

Contests are affordable!

The overall concept of a contest is extremely affordable. Gathering information is free. In addition, brands usually give away products they have available in stock, therefore there is minimal to no out of pocket cost. For the #BoostYourHealth campaign, Under Armour designed a branded metal cube installation, complete with 2 spin bikes, a spin instructor, multiple iPads, and Tigris brand ambassadors. However, all of these extra components did come at an extra cost. Therefore it’s up to you how interactive and big you want your contest marketing to be!

Increase Sales

Ultimately, this activation encourages onsite sales by allowing participants to try on the shoes while spinning. The comfort, look and feel of the shoes are impossible to ignore. It was easy to see participants falling in love with the shoes as they slipped them on. In addition, the activation was in the middle of Under Armour’s clothing section. Participants were surrounded by the newest clothing, and Tigris brand ambassadors were wearing the latest apparel. It was impossible NOT to buy something!

Try Contest Marketing At Your Next Event

Contest marketing works for all types of brands, from retail to alcohol. Consumers love the opportunity to win something free. This especially true if it’s from a brand they value and love. Try contest marketing at your next event. You can even tie the concept into social media!

Because contest marketing has multiple benefits, it’s a great tactic to use. However, it must be done properly. Even if a contest provides a great prize, people may be reluctant to provide you with their contact information. That’s where our brand ambassadors come in. Our team is trained to take on a brand’s persona and encourage contest participation. Contact Tigris today to learn more about our event staffing services. We operate nationwide across Canada with over 2,000 events staff on the team.

Nicole Delorme – Marketing Sales Manager

As the Marketing Sales Manager at Tigris, Nicole is responsible for Tigris’ internet marketing, social media, and sales.  In addition, she assists with event planning and coordination. Nicole earned her Digital Marketing and Sales Certification in 2015 to support her role at Tigris. Currently, she is completing her Social Media Marketing Certificate at George Brown College. With all this education in addition to her Bachelor’s Degree from Ryerson, she’s fully equipped for the job!

Learn more about Nicole and how far she’s come since her very first event as a brand ambassador with Tigris!

marketing sales managerHow did your journey as the Marketing Sales Manager with Tigris begin?

I’m scrolling through Instagram one day and spot a post for upcoming Tigris group interviews in Toronto.  At the time, I was attending Ryerson for Radio and Television Arts,  working for 99.9 Virgin Radio on the events team and as a Barista at Second Cup. Like many of our staff, I am a serious multi-tasker! I had never heard of brand ambassadors or promotional models before, and after taking a quick look at the Tigris website, I was instantly intrigued.

As instructed, I followed the process and submitted my photos and resume, then attended the group interviews in Toronto. I remember leaving those interviews truly inspired – not only by the women leading the interview but from the people who attended. Little did I know, one year later I would be hosting those group interviews!

My very first event was the Canadian Tire NASCAR weekend. I worked alongside 30 other brand ambassadors and was blown away that I was actually getting paid to have this much fun.

That spring, I graduated from Ryerson and started applying for full-time jobs. Coincidentally, Serena was hiring within the head office. Although I applied for a position I wasn’t quite yet qualified for, Serena met with me and offered me a part time position. today I am the Marketing Sales Manager at Tigris and I am responsible for our social media, website content, incoming sales, quotes, recruiting, as well as managing events.

marketing sales managerWhat motivates you to get up and do a great job every day?

Definitely, the people I work with. Our clients, brand ambassadors and the women that work alongside me in the head office are all truly inspiring people. Especially the women in the office – we are all so different and talented in various ways that it makes each day pretty interesting!

If you could go one place in the world, where would it be and why?

There isn’t one specific place I’d like to go, but I aim to travel to two destinations per year. Tackle the world one trip at a time!

What makes your life rewarding?

That feeling you get when you’ve helped, motivated or collaborated with someone.

marketing sales managerIs what you’re doing now (Marketing Sales Manager) what you always wanted to do growing up?

I didn’t even know my job existed when I was growing up (I had no idea what experiential marketing was). Growing up, I wanted to be an orthodontist but me and physics didn’t work out so well. I went to Ryerson hoping to be the next Cheryl Hickey. Along with classes in front of the camera, my program included several writing courses. I’m an avid reader and realized writing was something I enjoyed much more than reading off a screen, so I worked on pursuing those skills instead. Now I write Tigris’ blog posts, social media, event portfolios, newsletters and press releases!

Describe your ideal weekend.

My ideal weekend includes getting in a quick workout, singing karaoke with friends and eating dessert.

If You Could Live In A Book, TV Show Or Movie, What Would It Be?

Right now I’m obsessed with Nashville –  I’d love to live in that TV show and be a singer under Rayna James’ record label.

What are the three top traits you look for in a best friend?

I surround myself with people who motivate, inspire and make me laugh uncontrollably.

Dead or Alive, who would you have dinner with and what would you order?

I absolutely love Blake Lively – from her sense of style to the roles she’s played, I’m a definitely a fan. We’d go for dessert and I’d order either a chocolate molten lava cake or New York style cheesecake.

Tigris works with many young professionals. Do you have any advice for the staff you work with?

Value each and every relationship you make, and stay in contact with the people you meet.

– Nicole Delorme, Marketing Sales Manager

Holiday Staff Parties for Tigris in 4 Cities

How do you go about celebrating your best year yet? Throw nationwide holiday staff parties of course! Tigris events staff could be found working more than 32,000 hours on 4,500 shifts and 1,200+ activations in 2016. That’s a 30% increase over our 2015 events. Needless to say, we have lots to be thankful for and want to show gratitude with the hard-working members of our team.

We’ve been working with and getting to know some amazing staff across the country. What better way to ring in the New Year and celebrate our successes than with holiday staff parties in not only 1 but 4 of our major markets?  This past Sunday, Tigris held its 13th Annual Holiday Staff Party in Toronto as well as our 1st Holiday Staff Parties in Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver!

Planning for our Holiday Staff Parties

Planning holiday staff parties is not an easy feat, especially when your party is coinciding with so many others over the holiday season. With family gatherings, last minute gift shopping, traveling plans, vacations, and exams, it’s hard to get everyone under one roof. Even though we have nearly 600 people on our Toronto roster, past years have proven that only 10-15% of our roster makes it out. That’s why this year, we did things a little differently.

The Schedule
In previous years, holiday staff parties have been held in late November or early December. This year, however, we opted to schedule the parties for Sun., Jan. 8. Our team was interested in selecting this date to avoid conflicts with other commitments. Being a Sunday evening, guests can run their errands before the party, but go home early enough to take on the new week!

The Venues
Our Account Coordinator, Joanna, spent lots of time researching tons of cool venues in each of the four cities before deciding on locations (named below) worthy enough for our holiday staff parties. We brainstormed a few places in Toronto, including iDarts, Ripley’s Aquarium, and Skyzone.

The Invites
We utilized a variety of methods to round up the guests for our holiday staff parties. EventBrite was a huge help, as our guests could RSVP directly on their website. EventBrite has an instant notification system so we were consistently in the know about who was attending.  In addition, Facebook event invites were created so our staff can see the guest list. We get it, most of us make decisions about whether to attend an event based on who else is going! As the deadline to purchase tickets neared, we also sent out personal reminders via email, text and phone calls. Each city had a sizeable guest list by Jan. 5 and we were pumped!

How were the Holiday Staff Parties?

On the evening of the 8th, Tigris staff filed into pubs and bars in each of the four major cities for their respective holiday staff parties. Our Toronto staff dressed to impress at the trendy Ballroom in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Tigris Head Office Team gave each guest drink tickets for the Turkey Bar as well as a raffle ticket for the prize draw. Delicious food platters were spread throughout the private party room and servers emerged in waves with additional mouthwatering appetizers. The BBQ grilled chicken skewers and mini mac n’ cheese were team favourites!

The party came in full swing around 7pm. Serious smack talking could be overheard by the two pool tables, coupled by the thunderous crash of bowling pins in the two private bowling lanes.

Over in Montreal…

Tigris staff could be found indulging in goodies at the Bishop & Bagg, an authentic British pub in Mile-End. At 7:01pm, our Regional Account Manager & host, Tommy posted a live Facebook video of guests clinking glasses for a toast. This led to a chain of live videos from each party being posted across the country. While we only had a small group of guests attend this party, they were touched that they finally had the opportunity to partake in a holiday celebration with some of their co-workers

A couple time zones behind in Calgary…
Tigris staff were mixing and mingling at the Hose and the Hound. Our regional account manager for Calgary went live on Facebook interviewing guests about their favourite part about working with Tigris. One events staff, Tara said, “it’s the different sorts of events, the level of professionalism, and the follow through with what they [Tigris] say.” Rayna said she really enjoyed working the Canada Beef event, which is always well organized and fun.

On the West Coast…

Tigris Event Manager, Jaime was busy chatting with Tigris promotional models at Doolins, an Irish Pub. When asked why she loves working with Tigris, Paris exclaimed, “because of the people I get to work with!” Holding up her wine glass, Yvonne said her reason was because of the awesome holiday staff parties that Tigris throws. YAY! We had closer to 30 team members hit up our Vancouver party – the 2nd largest crowd next to Toronto. What a great group!

Near the end of the night, we raffle prizes were drawn to further to show our appreciation for staff who made it out to party in the freezing cold. We gave away lots of sweet prizes, including $25-$100 gift cards to The Keg, Sportchek, Cineplex and many other places. Congratulations to all of our team members who took home added bonuses in each of our cities. The parties went off without a hitch and team members had a blast. Our management team had so much fun chatting with old friends and meeting new ones. Even our CEO came into the office on Monday morning with no voice so you know we had a good time! To check out all of the photos from the parties, check out our facebook fan page!

Since the Tigris holiday staff parties this year were so fun, we’re thinking of throwing Tigris Summer Staff Parties! What do you think?

I’m already daydreaming about those pink drinks on a patio or a friendly game of volleyball by the beach!

Year End Review, and What’s Next for Tigris in 2017!

We’ve already shared the news of our new partnership with Riverside Naturals, and the integrity staffing we have secured for their 2017 events. But before we share more of our upcoming promotions, we’d like to take a moment to look at Tigris’ amazing year end review.

In 2016, our 12th year in business, Tigris staffed more than 32,000 hours and 4,500 shifts on 300 different programs nationwide across Canada. We worked with new clients and old and expanded within the head office by hiring a new Account Manager in July and an Account Coordinator in October. There are now 6 full-time staff at the Tigris head office, the largest number we’ve ever had!

Our CEO Serena Holmes had an amazing year. She tied the knot in Thailand, ranked on the W100 List of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs of 2016, and was recognized among Canada’s Top Business Women as a finalist for Veuve Clicquot’s New Generation Award.

Furthermore, our company has accumulated a huge tribe on social media. To date, we have 34,800 Twitter followers, 48,000 Facebook followers, and 52,000 Instagram followers – not to mention those we have on Linked In, Google+ and other channels. Speaking of numbers, we have grown to 2,000+ brand ambassadors nationwide. To celebrate, Tigris is throwing holiday parties for our largest rosters, including Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal, on Sun., Jan. 8.

A Few Favourite Promotions & Events From The Tigris Head Office In 2016– Year End Review

year end review

When asked about her favourite promotion or event this year, Nicole Delorme (Marketing & Sales Manager) recalled several promotions she worked with EventPeeks

EventPeeks has a unique platform, the Twitter TV. This TV looks like a gigantic iPad with a camera attached to the top. A Twitter account and related hashtag are created specifically for each event. Guests are encouraged to take a photo and tag themselves, which then gets posted to the event’s Twitter account. This year, I was able to work at the Grey Cup Tweet Up, in addition to the NBA All-Star Event at Spice Route in Toronto. I love these events because you get to engage with everyone at the party and help them take goofy and glamorous photos. In addition, our clients from EventPeeks are amazing gentlemen who I love working with!

year end review

One of the newest additions to the head office, Joanna Olaru (Account Coordinator) recalled her first event as a Team Lead with Tigris as her most memorable.

My favourite event so far was also coincidently the first event I did as a team lead. The Starshot event in association with HP Instant Ink was at times stressful but it taught me a lot. I had the amazing Tigris team with me, as well as Starshot and HP members who were exceptionally hard working. We all were able to pull together and create a well-functioning event. This was a true testament to how important having reliable team members is. I also got to dip my hand in a lot of different event management aspects which I found informative and educating that I can use for future events.

Now That You’ve Seen A Tigris’ Year End Review, Let’s Take A Look At What’s Coming Up In 2017!

You may have noticed we have officially rebranded to TIGRIS EVENTS INC. When anyone thinks about Tigris, we want them to think of events! At Tigris, we create, plan AND staff events… so this transition makes perfect sense. In addition to rebranding, we are in the midst of developing a Tigris specific software platform to collect availability and book staff for events. Keep an eye out for this in 2017!

Because our team is outstanding, we are up for a 2017 Top Choice Award. Top Choice is based on votes and we need YOURS to win! If you haven’t already, please spare 30 seconds of your time and vote [update: voting is now closed]. Note that you can vote as many times as you want before Jan. 6, 2017.

We’ve already completed over 25 quotes for new events in 2017 and 10 confirmed bookings. These events include sampling for Great Western Brewery, the Canadian International Auto Show, the Bridal Expo, and the National Home Show. In addition, we will be getting starting on the event planning for St. Joseph’s annual Toronto West Halloween FestThis small business just continues to grow, and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
